There were a total of 241 teams that registered for all of the 18 leagues that the HIHF has (excluding the MOL League) by the June 15th deadline.

For the U8 and U10 age groups there is rolling registration, but at this time there is a total of 50 teams in the younger age group with 53 in the older.
In the U12 the team are broken into three classifications, A, B and C for the 2016-17 season. The A group will have 17, the B group 13 and the C group will have 9 teams for a total of 39 teams competing in this age group.
This is the same age group that the newly formed 3 on 3 hockey will be competing in. This gives clubs that do not have a regulation sized rink still to keep their players in the organization for one age group longer. There will be a total of 7 teams competing in this league.

The U14 age group will also be competing in three classifications as well with a total of 31 teams. The A group will have 16, B will have 11 and 4 teams will be playing in the C group.

The U16 age group will have 20 teams split into two groups with A having 13 and B having 7. Once you start to move up in age the number of teams start to decrease, with the U18 having only 10 teams competing for the title all in one group.
The oldest age group will have only 7 teams, not entering a team in the U20 will be UTE, Csíkszereda, Pesterzsébet and Tisza Volán, however Zalai Titánok will be competing in this age group for the first time.

For the first season of U25 there were only two applicants, if this remains the same the competition will will be cancelled for the 2016-17 season.
Compared to the previous season there will be one less Women’s senior team as only five teams will be going for gold.
The Men’s OB III will have 5 teams and the OB IV will remain at 11.
Teams can register until June 22nd only from now on with a late fee as well.
