MOL League championship series (Part 1)

The fight for the title has started, after the first two games in Dunaújváros (DAB) the series is split at one a piece with the show moving to Csíkszereda where the home team hopes to capitalize on the home ice advantage. DAB won game one by the score of 2-0 with Peter Sevela getting the shut out. The match was a goalkeeper battle up until the 27.39 mark when Richárd Nagy put a puck past the keeper off a pass from Tamás Gröschel and Adrián Hüffner to take the lead. Artyom Vaszjunyin doubled the lead for the home squad with Gröschel getting his second assist in the game. The match had no major penalties and Gröschel was the leading scorer with his two assists.

Game two had a similar feeling to it as in game one however this time around DAB did not have the upper hand in the hame game and lost by two goals. Just as in game one Sevela and Stanislav Kozuch had battle of goal keepers but this time around Csíkszereda was able to break the deadlock when Attila Góga set up Jaroslav Kmit to put the puck in the back of the cage at the 30.57 mark of the game. Lubomir Hrutaj put the road team up by 2 with about 15 minutes left in the game. Right when it looked as if all was about lost for DAB they brought off their keeper for the extra attacker which they were able to take advantage of when Dávid Szappanos scored with less then two minutes left, Jozef Mihalik and Nikandros Galanisz had the assists. Luck ran out for DAB when Tihamér Becze was able to find the empty net and close out the win for the road side.
The series now heads east across the boarder to Transylvania where games 3 and 4 will be played on Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th with the home team has a chance of putting their opponents to the brink of elimination.

Check back in the near future for the recap of the rest of the championship series.
