This upcoming week is a busy week for anyone involved with any of the Hungarian national teams. Not only with the Senior and the U20 teams be playing in a 4 Nations tournament in Budapest, but both the U18 and U16 teams will be traveling to Austria to partake in tournaments themselves as well.
The U18 will be traveling to Telfs, Austria under the guidance of head coach Glen Williamson where they will be facing Italy, Slovenia and the host team Austria. Interestingly all three teams that Hungary will be facing this upcoming weekend will be playing a level below them at the World Championships.
Glen Williamson has called in 6 goalies, 16 defencemen and 20 forwards. Cuts will be made during the week before the team faces Italy Thursday night.
The U16 team will also be in Austria like the U18 team. However, they will be in St.Pölten and without their head coach as that is Glen Williamson as well who, as mentioned before, will be with the U18 team. Running the show in St.Pölten will be assistant coach Csaba Jánosi with the rest of the staff being split between the two teams.
At this time the U16 squad will have 4 goalies, 13 defencemen and 20 forwards, these players are representing seven Hungarian clubs. This preliminary squad will be whittled down to the team that will travel and face off against Slovenia on Thursday night, with games against Italy and Austria on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Either way Glen Williamson and the Hungarian youth system coaching staff will have their hands full.
