Brasov gets one back

After Nové Zámky took games one and two on their home ice, Brasov wanted to do the same in Romania to get themselves back in and send the series back to Slovakia.

The first goal of the game was not scored until 13:32 of the first period when Levente Zsók put the puck past Nové Zámky keeper Jan Chovan. The score remained 1-0 though the rest of the period.

Seventeen seconds into the second Albin Podstavek made it 1-1 with an unassisted goal. The rest of the period was dominated by Brasov as Zsók scored two straight goals to complete his hat trick and to put up Brasov 3-1. Martin Saluga scored to make it 4-1 with Zsolt Molnár getting the assist.

The game looked to be in the bag for Brasov as Attila Imecs made it 5-1. With under 10 minutes left in the period Podstavek and Martin Uhnák scored less than a minute apart to bring them back within two but it was not enough as Ivan Dornic scored an empty netter.

“There was a lot more speed, the game was too open we let them use their strong side too much,” said Brasov defenceman Juha Heitamäki. “Yesterday’s game was worst of these three. Both teams looked very tired but I’m sure that tomorrow will be different.”
