Budapest to host two World Championships

For the 2016-2017 IIHF season Budapest will be hosting two World Championships, with the men’s senior team travelling to  Kiev Ukraine for the Division 1/A Championships.

Friday the IIHF congress continued in Moscow where the main agenda point was deciding where all the World Championships would be held during the 2016-2017 IIHF season. The Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation will be hosting two tournaments the men's U20 and the women's u18.
The boys will be playing between December 11th and the 16th with the girls hitting the ice between January 8th and th 14th in the Tüskecsarnok. The men's senior team will be in Kiev from April 22nd through the 28th. Austria had lost out by one vote from hosting the Division 1/A Championships.

2017 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division I Group A
Host to be determined at the Congress in September.
Participants: Denmark, Germany, Kazakhstan, France, Norway, Hungary

2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division I Group A  Graz or Linz, Austria, 15-21 April 2017
Participants: Japan, France, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Hungary

Olympic Qualification Preliminary Round 3 (15-18 December 2016).
Group F: Norway (16), Slovakia (17), Hungary (20), Qualifier 5. In Norway.
