The Hungarian U20 team bounced back against Italy after a hard loss on Thursday against France, with a 3-1 win.

The coaching staff gave Gergely Arany the start after Dániel Kornakker played great the previous day.

Hungary opened up the scoring in the early minutes of the game when István Terbócs found the back of the net with Vilmos Galló and Dávid Jászai assisting. Later in the period Italy took advantage of their first power play when Matteo Dantone scored to make it 1-1.

The second and third periods was all Hungary as Arany and the defencemen shut the door on the Italians. Hungary scored a power play goal of their own when Galló had his second assist as he and Márk Száller set up Krisztián Szabó to make it 2-1.

Hungary made it a two goal game 6.25 into the third period when Kristóf Schmál scored an even strength goal with Gálló getting his third assist of the game, along with Péter Vincze.

“We started the game great, in the first period we had strong forecheck from which we created chances and ended up scoring from. In the second period we had a power play goal, in the third period we were fighting strong but we did make a couple of mistakes that we were able to overcome. Overall is was a fast paced hard fought game against a strong team,” forward Kristóf Schmál

“We played more cohesively compared to yesterday against France, this showed right away at the start when we took the early lead. Unfortunately they were able to tie the game on a powerplay goal. In the third period we forced our game on them which produced a goal, in the second period we were concentrating on defending, the guys were stepping into shots in front of me. We don’t have much time to celebrate since we are back on the ice tomorrow at 10 against Slovenia,” goalie Gergely Arany
