After the disappoint loss to Riga the night before, DVTK had to beat Jesenice if they wanted a chance to advance to the third round.
The home team was determined to convert on the chances that didn’t end up in the net against Riga. Attila Adorján was in net Diósgyőri VTK, with Zan Us defending the Jesenice net. the game stayed scoreless until the midway point of the first period when Andrej Zidane scored on a counter attack. DVTK was able to ties it up before the period was out when Keegan Dansereau fired home a Roland Hajós rebound. The home team took their first lead of the game late in second period when Hajós took a feed from behind the net and banged it home. A second Zidane goal tied it for Jesenice and both teams took it up a notch as they were fighting for the third goal. Later in the period during a power play DVTK had a heads up play where Tóth picked the puck out of the goalie and Balázs Gőz flipped it home. Late in the period Nikandrosz Galanisz skated in on a breakaway and put the pick between the keepers legs to make it 4-2. On the next shift Jesenice cut it back to a one goal game when Pesjak put one past Adorján. Jesenice pulled their goalie but in the end they were not able to score a tying goal.
DVTK head coach Péter Mayer: I think we deserved to win, were played better today, we dominated and we were fresher, I am happy with the win but unfortunately we only won by one goal, we will find out tomorrow if this was enough to advance.
HK Mogo Riga coach Olegs Sorokins: It was tight than we expected to be, but i have to say all the best about Jaca, i was surprised about how calm they played, but we picked up the win which was important.
