DVTK needed a Jesenice to beat Riga in the early game and a win against Spanish club Jaca to force a three way tie for first place and the group winner would come to a tie breaker.
Diósgyőr was playing without Levente Szilágyi and Jesse Dudas, Bence Kiss started in net. Jaca was without Ubieto and Luis and Ander Alcaine was defending the cage, who was teammates with Bence Szirányi and Dr. Viktor Szélig in Briancon in 2011-12. Frederick DiSei scored an unassisted goal in the first period to put Jaca up 1-0. Keegan Dansereau snipped a goal to tie it up at 1-1, in the second period the floodgates opened up as DVTK scored five in the second period. Kalvin Sagert sent a rocket past the Jaca goalie. The game was really put out of reach in an 80 second span when Balázs Láda, Sagert and Somogyi scored to make it 5-1. In the third period Jaca got one back when Vincent Montreuil put a rebound past Bence Kiss. In the end Jaca ran out of steam as Diósgyőr scored four more goals in the end. The home team took advantage of all of the scoring chances, Pavuk and Cseter made it 8-2, a Nikandrosz Galanisz blast from the slot made it 9-2 and Dansereau scored the last one to make it a nice round 10-2 knockout win.
DVTK coach Péter Mayer: The total goals scored is a nice number but the days they were split up was not the best. We should our goal scoring potential. I have to be happy with the team in a game where we knew we couldn't advance anymore. We should that we play at a higher level. Aside from the first five minutes of the game we dominated.
C.H. Jaca coach Miguel Baldris:Today was not the best day for us, but the first two days we played, we cant handle big teams like DVTK, we we had a great experience here in Hungary.
In early game of the day HK Mogo Riga took on HDD Jesenice, which had implications on DVTK as well. If Jesenice would have won a DVTK win would mean that there is a three way tie for first place in the group. Zan Us was in net for Jesenice and Henrijs Ancs was in net for Riga. Jeklic put Jesenice up 1-0 early in the game but Miks Lipsbergs tied it up before the period was out. Right past the midway point of the game Eduard Lipsbergs gave Mogo Riga the first lead of the game. Riga pretty much closed the door on Jesenice when they scored the third goal of the game when Prusis put the puck past Us. In the end Miks Lipsberger scored an empty net goal to seal the victory and and the tournament win
HK Riga coach Olegs Sorokins: We really deserved it, we really wanted it and we were the better team. Jesenice was probably a but tired after not resting for 24 hours. I have to thank the guys for a great third period.
