The puck drops Friday night in Miskolc as the match play in Group B of the second round of the Continental Cup takes off.
Miskolc will be the host city of one of the two second groups for the IIHF Continental Cup where DVTK will be taking on teams from Slovenia, Latvia and Spain. This is the first time that Miskolc has ever hosted an IIHF club event, the Continental Cup is the second most prestigious pan-european club event after the recently formed Champions Hockey League.
Mogo Riga from Latvia, CH Jaca from Spain and Slovenian club Acroni Jesenice round out the group. The winner of the group will move on to play in Group D in Asiago Italy where the host team, Herning Blue Fox from Denmark and Yertis Pavlodar from Kazakhstan will be waiting.
During the 2012-2013 season Miskolc had participated in the Continental Cup where again they were in Group B of the second round, which was played in Vaasa, Finland. DVTK hopes to perform better than the last time around.Iin Vaasa they lost all three games and finished last in a group that was made up of host team Vaasa, Beibarys Atyrau from Kazakhstan, and Latvia club Liepajas Metalurgs. Beibarys Atyrau ended up winning the group but were not able to make it past the following round.
During the three day round robin tournament Diógyőr is playing the late game on all three days at 19:00.
