After a 20 year break top level Hungarian hockey is back in Debrecen
Debreceni Hoki Klub (DHK) has announced that they will be joining the MOL League for the 2014-2015 season. Debrecen will be the fifth Hungarian club and in total the eight team in the league which is made up of teams from Hungary, Slovakia and Romania.
DHK looks to be working with a budget that will surpass 100 million HUF but it will probably be more in the area of 140-160 million HUF budget for next season, which would include the salaries of quality import players. The club would like to have a core group of homegrown talent with the rest of the roster being made up of a couple quality Hungarian players as well as some import players, coming most likely from Russia.
In April the club would like to have a try out where head coach Vladimir Scseglov and Igor Razov will evaluate the players and decided who will make the team and also what positions they need to fill from outside of the organization.
The club does not expect to win right away however they would like to slowly build the team up and in five years have a real competitive team. The best example would be what near by Miskolc has done in the last five years.
