The Disciplinary Committee investigated the MOL League game MOL 177 (HK Beograd – Ferencvarosi TC) where David SZAPPANOS player of Ferencvarosi TC was being penalized 25 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior (MATCH). The Committee made the following conclusions:
IIHF RULE 168 – UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT
DEFINITION: A player or team official who commits a violation of the rules pertaining to sportsmanship, fair play, and respect.
Match Penalty - A player or team official who threatens, makes racial or ethnic slurs, spits, smears blood, or makes sexual remarks to any person will be assessed a match penalty.
The Disciplinary Commitee approve the referee’s judgement, and do not use other sanctions.
David SZAPPANOS was imposed Match Penalty (MATCH) during the game.
IIHF rule book RULE 110 – DURATION OF PENALTIES/MATCH
A match penalty carries with it an automatic (and minimum) one-game suspension.
David SZAPPANOS will skip the next match of his team.
The player will spend down his sentence at the next Hungarian Cup match.
