The Disciplinary Commission no.2015-16/034 decree
The Disciplinary Committee investigated the MOL League game MOL 191 (ASC Corona Brasov - UTE) where Eric PANCE, player of UTE was being penalized 5 + 20 minutes for slashing (SLASH).
The Committee made the following conclusions:
After 65 minutes the player of UTE, hit the offensive player's hand with his stick, in a goal situation.
IIHF RULE 159 – SLASHING
DEFINITION: A player who swings his stick, with one hand or two, at any part of an opponent’s body or equipment. Contact to the opponent is not necessary for the penalty to be assessed. A player who slashes an opponent will be assessed at least a minor penalty.
According to the Disciplinary Committee's opinion, the player didn"t move to acquire the puck. The slashing happened from behind, the opponent player could't get ready for it, and it could easily cause damage.
The Disciplinary Commitee prohibited Eric PANCE, the UTE player for 1 MOL League matches. The player will spend down his sentence at the next MOL League match.
