Hungarian Women's national team player Dorottya Medgyes will be the first player born and trained in Hungary to play NCAA hockey.

“I am leaving early on August 20th and will getting into the Grand Forks airport at on the

same day. My roommate who is also my teammate Marissa Salo said that she will come out to the airport and pick me up, its as if they are already waiting for me with open arms.”

As icehockey.hu had written earlier Medgyes recived an athletic scholarship from the Univerity of North Dakota. Dorottya found some time during her busy summer to talk about what she expects from not only the upcoming season but the school year as well at UND.

“I pretty much know everything I need to about the school and my roommate, I talk to the coaches on a regular basis and they have helped me alot. I need to choose between on campus and off campus housing. They told me that if I went with the off campus option that I would be living with Marissa, and another girl who is not on the team, the apartment is about a kilometer from campus.”

This means that Dorottya will be living off campus at least for her first school year at UND.

She also talked about education side of the university as well where NHL players Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie also played.

“I have to pick a major and what classes I want to take, I haven't decided yet but I’m leaning towards business and management's, with in that I don’t know what classes I will take yet.”

Based on the numbers below one can see that the University of North Dakota is a quality institustion.

“What is interesting is that any time I talked to someone from the U.S. or Canada they always had something positive to say about the institution. When I talked to one American they said that it is a good school, a Canadian I talked to said that he has never played on a better ice surface that at UND”

This is not really surprising since both the mens and womens teams play at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, which holds 11,634. The arena as uptodate state of teh art amenities both for the players and the fans alike. Tickets for women's games go on sale September 24th, a season ticket costs $60 and game day tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.

“I am heading over there with high hopes even though I have yet to see the place in person. I feel that it will be great to play there especially since I will be wearing #17. My teammates are nice I think I will enjoy the next four years."
