Fehérvár AV19 opened up the 2015-16 season with wins against Klagenfurt and Innsbruck, this coming weekend they will be going up against old rivals Olimpia Ljubljana and league leader Orli Znojmo.

The new EBEL season could not have started better for Alba Volán, first they beat championship record holders Klagenfurt on the road and then followed it up with a shutout win on home ice against Innsbruck. After two games Fehérvár has six points and have outscored their opponents by the score of 4-1, with the one goal maybe being offsides, by this account the defence looks to be pretty good.

“We defended as a team against Innsbruck”, said Fehérvár head coach Rob Pallin- “We need to work on our power play and we need to work on creating chances from other areas of the ice as well for example from the slot and in front of the goal. For the first time in a year and a half Zoltán Hetényi played in an EBEL game and played great. In this league it is hard get points, and I am happy with the six that we picked up.”

On Friday the always tough Olimpia Ljubljana visits Fehérvár, with Alba Volán traveling to the Czech Republic to take on Orli Znojmo, who is at the top of the standings after they beat Máté Gáspár’s team, Black Wings Linz 4-0 and they knocked out RedBull Salzburg 7-1.

“We know that it is always a tough game against Ljubljana regardless if the game is at home or away. The Slovenians play an intense game and we need to as well, we need to be effective in the defensive zone and with our offensive game we can pick up another three points, but we will need a great performance from our goalie”. Pallin also said that Miklós Rajna will be in net on Friday, which means that Hetényi will probably start on Sunday.
