Fehérvár hoped to extend their winning streak by two more over the past weekend, with a home game against Olimpia Ljubljana and a road game at Znojmo.

AV19-Olimpia 4-3 (OT)

Fehérvár looked to extend their unbeaten streak against a team that always gives them problems. Rob Pallin gave Miklós Rajna the start, however missing from the lineup was István Bartalis and Andrew Sarauer, which is no surprise, but Aaron Brocklehurst broke his hand. Brandon Connolly put the home team up in the first period, in the second Connolly put his team up 2-0, when he took a pass from Péter Vincze and shot it past Olivier Roy. However in a 90 second span the Slovenian squad pulled even at 2-2. First Andrej Hebar put the puck in the Fehérvár net, the second one came off of the stick of Anze Ropret. The excitement continued on in the third period as as the teams entered the final twenty minutes tied. In the third period the teams exchanged goals as Arnold Varga put Volán up again when he fired a shot past Roy. In the closing minutes Roland Kaspitz scored to send the game into overtime. In the extra time Fehérvár was on the power play when Frank Banham released his trademark shot in the first minute to win it for Fehrévár and to keep them undefeated.

Head Coach Rob Pallin: I feel we played very well with 45 shots on goal and defensively only giving up 17 shots on goal. We need to start getting goals in front of the opponent's net knowing that not every goal will be pretty goal. We continue to have many shots on goal but we are not earning hard, difficult goals. When we were in a 2:0 lead, we had the chance to bury our opponent. Our team must be able to find a killer instinct, when the opponent is two goals down and we are outplaying them. Francis, Connolly and Vincze were excellent. To take eight out of nine points, it a good, positive note.“

Znojmo-AV19 2-1

For the second game of the weekend Rob Pallin kept up switching his goalies with Zoltán Hetényi starting the game against Znojmo. All three injured players, Bartalis, Brocklehurst and Sarauer were missing from the lineup. Mark Szaller, the young defenceman made his EBEL debut for Fehérvár After a scoreless first period the home team got on the scoreboard first when Pucher scored in the first minute of the second period. Znojmo could only hold onto the lead for about five minutes as Connolly tied it up, who had three goals on the weekend. At 35:17 of the game former Fehérvár AV19 Colton Yellow Horn, who was leading the league in scoring coming into this game with four goals and four assists added onto his total with his fifth goal of the season to make it 2-1. Unfortunately Fehérvár could not get any closer despite the outstanding performance by Zoltán Hetényi in net. Early in the third period Gergő Nagy had put the puck past teh goal line, but the officials did not allow the goal.

Head Coach Rob Pallin: This was tough game, both teams played hard, in the third period we had a clear goal disallowed, I am very upset about that one because if that is a goal I think we would have left with at least one points. We had scoring chances but we were not able to take advantage of them. W e need to work on this, we are not scoring enough goals, after four games we have nine goals. Once Sarauer and Brocklehurst are back we will be a bit better off. I am very happy with the way Márk Szaller played today.
