After having a great start to the season the first two weekends Fehérvár has hit a speed bump this past weekend as they were not able to pick up any points against Vienna or Znojmo.
Vienna-Fehérvár 5-4
Volán was missing four key player from the lineup, István Bartalis looks to be out until December and Andrew Sarauer has yet to play this season. Aaron Brocklehurst is out with a broken hand and Frank Baham was missing as well. Making his EBEL debut was Krisztián Szabó and Miklós Rajna got the start in net. Fehérvár had the lead three different times throughout the first half of the game. Ladislav Sikorcin continued he great start to the season as he gave Fehérvár the early 1-0. Vienna tied it up on a 5 on 3 goal, however Fehérvár got their second lead of the night on a Chris Francis power play goal, and again Vienna tied it up. Csaba Kovács made it 3-2 but the Capitals scored three unanswered goals to go up 5-3. Brendan Connolly scored in the third period to cut it to a one goal game at 5-4 but Fehérvár could not even it up.
Fehérvár-Znojmo 1-4
Volán hoped their luck would be better on home ice on Sunday night. None of the four injured player were back in the lineup, as expected Zoltán Hetényi was the starting goalie for the home team. Both goalies started out great as there were no goals scored in the first period and halfway into the second, the first goal was scored in the 30th minute by Znojmo. Two goals by former Volán forward Colton Yellow Horn made it 3-0 in the early part of the third period. Znojmo was up 4-0 in the closing minute when Ryan Martinelli scored to prevent Volán from being shut out.
Rob Pallin: We have to admit that Znojmo isn't in first place by accident and their goalie played great. We had a number of shots on net but we didn't jump on the rebounds, we are really missing Andrew Sarauer and Frank Banham from our powerplay. I am proud of my guys for playing hard all the way to the end.
