
In the U18 age group of the Austrian league MAC Budapest was the last Hungarian team standing, they took on Klagenfurt AC in a best out of three semifinals series.
EC KAC-MAC Budapest 6-3
Coach Tibor Marton opened up the series by sticking with Kristóf Dobos in net, the first period was a hectic back and forth twenty minutes. Klagenfurt had a 2-0 lead from two power play goals, a Miklos Gyurgyev power play goal and one by Bruno Kreisz made it 2-2. The teams exchanged goals one more time before the period was out as Barna Jászai tied it up at 3-3 in the closing minutes of the period. Interesting the the second period flew by as no goals were scored and no penalties were called. KAC pulled away in the third period as they scored a power play goal and an even strength goal in a two minute span. In the end an empty net KAC goal set the final score.
MAC Budapest-EC KAC 0-3
After the loss on the road the MAC coaching staff gave Boldizsár Győri the start, the period remained scoreless until the last two minutes Klagenfurt scored on a close range shot put the visitors up 1-0. The second period was a balanced back and forth game but again in the closing minutes KAC managed to score a goal as they took a 2-0 lead into the third period. KAC scored in the opening minutes of the third, MAC was not able to get any closer as the Austrian side advanced to the finals where they will take on EC RedBull Salzburg for the EBJL title.
