Fehérvár AV19-HD Mladi Jesenice

Fehérvár-Jesenice 7-2
For game one of the EBJL Fehérvár hosted the Slovenian club Jesenica, head coach Dávid Kiss gave Martin Szeles the start in net. Bence Makovics gave Volán a 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game, not much later Patrik Kiss made it 2-0. Fehérvár pulled away later in the period with goals by Gergő Vincze and Benedek Madácsi. Jesenice scored on their first shift of the second period, the score stayed 4-1 for the rest of the period. Volán came back in the third as they scored three times as Hunor Czászár, Ákos Mihály and Bence Szabó all found the back of the net before Jesenice scored their second one of the game late in the third.

For game two the series switched to Slovenia, Martin Szeles had the start between the pipes. Like in game one Fehérvár took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Makovic, with Renátó Tóth putting Volán up 2-0 after the first period. Jesenice  scored the only goal of the second period to cut it to a one goal game. In the third period Jesenice score early to tie it up at 2-2. The two teams exchanged goals in the third period as Czászár scored for Fehérvár, with the game tied at 3-3 the game went to OT where Márk Vas scored 25 seconds into the extra period.

Fehérvár coach Dávid Kiss: It is always great to make it to the finals especially when you win two games to zero with an overtime win. During the first game we were the better team, in the second one we let our opponent get back into the game, this is something we can not do in the next series.


MAC Budapest-RedBull Salzburg

MAC-RedBull 3-4
Just like the other semi final series this one as well started in Hungary, Kristóf Nagy got the start in net for MAC. RedBull scored first but late in the opening period Árpád Lőczi tied the game up at 1-1. After a scoreless second period the Austrian club took a one goal lead, but again MAC tied it up with Gergely Tóth making it 2-2. Later in the period the two teams exchanged goals in a 65 second span with Tóth scoring again to make it 3-3. In the closing minutes RedBull scored the game winning goal to take the opening game.

RedBull-MAC 3-4 OT
For game two in Salzburg Boldizsár Győri was named the starting goalie. RedBull went up 1-0 in the first period. In the second period Tóth tied the game up at 1-1, later in the period there was a 1:45 second span where four goals were scored. Bruno Kreisz gave MAC the lead but RedBull scored twice to make it 3-2, with Ákos Szigeti making it 3-3. The score stayed locked through the rest of the second and third periods. In overtime Dávid Sebestyén scored the game winner to force a deciding third game.

MAC-RedBull 4-3 OT
MAC stuck with Győri in net for the thrid and final game of the series, again RedBull took a 1-0 lead and Tóth tied it up on a power play goal for MAC. The Austrian club scored twice more in the first period to take a 3-1 lead after the first period. The scoring continued in the second period with Tóth and Dávid Sebestyén tying the game up at 3-3, but minutes later RedBull went back up by one goal. However in the last minute of the period Tóth completed his hattrick to make it 4-4 as the two teams headed into final period. After a scoreless third, Sebestyén scored his second goal of the game in the second minute of overtime to give MAC the semi final win.

MAC coach Tibor Marton: In youth hockey the “path” is more important that a player takes that the results. These guys have worked hard and I have told them all year that their hard work will payoff in the end.
