National team forward Gergő Nagy will be making the move from MOL League team Nové Zámky to the Quad City Mallards of the CHL. Nagy has an opportunity much like what former linemate back in Fehérvár Dániel Kóger had a couple years back.

Kóger spent one season with the Laredo Bucks before moving on to the ECHL and the AHL. Kóger's former Bucks coach is the current head coach of the Mallards.

One advantage that Nagy has over Kóger's situation is that the Mallards are the direct minor league team of the Iowa Wild of the AHL and the Minnesota Wild of the NHL, meaning that if he does get called up sometime during the season then he would be skipping a step on the latter which would be the ECHL.

This season so far has been excellent for Gergő, he has 14 points in 7 games with Nové Zámky and is leading the league in assists with 11.

Nagy was called into the national team at the age of 19 after being on a line with two other young pups in Kóger and István Sofron in Székesfehérvár in the EBEL. Right now all three of them are playing abroad with Kóger playing in Toledo in the ECHL and Sofron in Krefeld in the DEL.

Gergő Nagy's other stops during his career so far have been Ferhérvár's farm team in the MOL League, Salzburg II in the Austrian 2nd division, and Miskolc in the MOL League.
