
After upsetting Slovakia on Friday the womens team was back at it on Saturday against France
Tibor Marton and his staff decided to go with Renáta Poltzer in net with Anikó Németh on the bench. Sarolt Csiszer and Vivien Somogyi were back in the lineup with Vanda Pál and Zóra Gottlibet being the two scratches.
The first period was balanced as both teams had power play chances but nothing was converted, France never really challenged Poltzer in the period.
Things got interesting in the second period as France was able to find a goal off of a long shot from just inside the blue line for the power play goal. France struck again on power play goal as this time France jumped on a loose puck in front of the net to score their second powerplay goal of the game.
Late in the third period Hungary had a five on three power play that they were able to convert when Franciska Kiss-Simon ripped a shot from just inside the blue line. In the closing seconds with the goalie pulled Alexandra Huszák flipped a rebound past the French keeper to send the game into overtime. After the extra five minutes the game went to a shootout that the French team was able to win.
“We were really able to learn from this game, we had a first period in which we played really well a second in which we did not a a third where we were able to come back. It is always great to come back being down 2-0 in a five minute span.
