HC: Debrecen pulls away at the end

With a win Ferencváros would punch their ticket to the Hungarian Cup Final 4, a loss would give Újpest and Debrecen still a chance. The home team was missing Olivér Ágoston, Zalán Fliszár, Attila Rafaj and Juha Hietamaki dressed but did not play, Krisztián Budai was in net. For Debrecen Norbert Hári, Áron Könczei, and Bronson Kovács were missing with Ádám Vay in net. Linus Schellin scored the opening goal of the game when he put a rebound home from the crease, Debrecen tied it up on a similar goal off the stick of Erik Piatek. Just as it looked that the game would be tied heading into the first intermission Danil Kaskov picked up a misplayed puck by Budai and fired it into the net to make it 2-1. In the opening minutes of the second period Jereme Tendler tied the game up with power play goal from the right faceoff circle. Debrecen’s young players got into the scoring when Róbert Győrgy set up Dániel Godó put Debrecen back up by one. The turning point in the game came in the last minute of the second period when Vladislav Troshin and Ákos Berta scored seven seconds apart. The third period was all Debrecen as Ferencváros had no air left in them to compete. Kaskov and Dancsfalvi scored in the third period to set the final at 7-2.
