Fehérvár had Zoltán Hetényi and most of their EBEL players, UTE countered with József Pleszkán in net, Phil Bushbacher was out of the lineup and Benji Nemes was suspended. From the start it looked as if Fehérvár was the stronger team. The visiting Volán took a 2-0 lead in the first half of the first period. Ladislav Sikorcin flipped the pukc over Pleszkán to make it 1-0, minutes later Ferenc Kocsis put his own rebound in following a two on one situation where took the shot instead of making the pass. In the second period UTE looked a bit stronger but Fehérvár had more scoring chances. The visitors were not able to open up on their lead as they missed a number of empty net chances and Pleszkán made a number of key saves. UTE cut it to a one goal game when late in the period Martin Turbucz put a shot on net that went through the legs of Hetényi and into the back of the net. Ryan Martinelli picked up an injury in the middle of the period. In the third period Fehérvár went back up by two goals just as UTE had killed a penalty, Andrew Sarauer took pass on the back post and flipped it home into the empty net. Late in the period Bence Szirányi put a shot on net that Chris Bodó redirected past the goalie to make it 4-1. In the last minute of play András Benk made a pass from behind the net that Sikorcin put past the goalie for the final of 5-1.
