Ferencváros needed a win if they wanted to advance to the Hungarian Cup Final 4, Krisztián Budai was playing in net for what could be his last professional game. On the other side Fehérvár had Miklós Rajna in net for his first game since the MOL League playoffs. The game stayed tied 0-0 until late in the first period when Gergő Nagy put a rebound in off of a Chris Francis shot, minutes later they were up 2-0 when András Benk scored a power play goal off of a pass from Nagy. In the literally the last second of the first period Arnold Varga took a shot from the right faceoff circle that was deflected off a Fradi player and in with half a second left on the clock. Ferencváros was able to group for the second period and they were able to keep the score close, at just about the middle of the period Gábor Kiss made it 3-1 when he took a pass from the right wing and slipped the puck between Rajna’s legs from right outside of the crease. In the third period Ferencváros looked to get tired and Antonin Manavian scored with a rocket past Budai to set the final score.

Debrecen was already through to the Final 4 if Ferencváros lost but with a win they were in as well. Ádám Vay was in net for Debrecen with the team from Budapest having Ales Sila between the pipes. Norbert Dancsfalvi scored at the midway point of the opening period to put Debrecen up 3-1, however UTE answered back with three unanswered goals before the period was over. Ákos Kiss set up Erik Pance for the tying goal with Róbert Dömötör scoring the go ahead goal off of a pass by Ádám Pichler, and Pance made it 3-1. Debrecen woke up in the second period as they tied the game up before the period was even two minutes old. Artyom Vaszjunyin made it 3-2 and Pavel Karsakov tied the game up. The two teams exchanged goals before the period was out, Ákos Kiss scored a power play goal with Karsakov scoring his second one of the game. The game stayed locked at 4-4 until the final minute of play when Erik Piatak scored with thirty seconds left in the game.
