The first Hungarian Cup qualifying game was underway and pitted Dunaújváros who did not make the playoffs against Ferencváros who was eliminated from the MOL League playoffs in the quarterfinals. The home team DAB had Dávid Duschek starting in net, the Fradi roster was a bit different with Krisztián Budai was the goalie, however Olivér Ágoston and Attila Rafaj were injured, Linus Schellin and Marko Luomala were sitting out a suspension. Vladimir Dubek set up Lőrinc Farkas for the first goal of the game in the opening minutes. Dunaújváros got their act together as they scored three unanswered goals before the period was out. DAB tied the game up on a goal by Máté Szepessy with René Léránt finding the back of the net twice, once on the power play and once even strength. Tamás Valecko and Bence Zalavári combined for the only goal of the second period to get Fraid back within one. The visitors owned the third period as Jereme Tendler tied the game up off of a Adrián Hüffner pass and Csaba Papp put Ferencváros back up by one goal. Papp also set up Gábor Kiss on the final goal of the game to make it 5-3.
