After losing to UTE 7-0 Vasas was facing their second MOL League team from Budapest. Ferencváros was playing without a number of players. Linus Schellin was sitting out a suspension, Attila Rafaj, Juha Hietamäki and Marko Luomala were all missing, László Soós got the start in net. The young Vasas team countered with Gábor Perczel in net.
Vasas came out strong and kept pressure on Ferencváros and were fundamentally sound and managed 12 shots on net. In the second period after killing a penalty Zsombor Pál sent a shot from the right corner on the blue line that went upper deck on Perczel. Vasas kept it a tight game up until about ten minutes left when they started to tire. Fradi scored twice in a twelve second span as both Vladimir Dubek and Jereme Tendler took advantage of Vasas mistakes. Ferencváros scored a total of four goals in just under three minutes as Gábor Komjáti when he took a shot from the right faceoff circle that went off of Perczel’s glove and in. Nico Suoraniemi made it 5-0 when FTC caught Vasas on the change, Suoraniemi skated in and instead of trying to deke the goalie he just ripped a shot that ended up behind the Vasas goalie. Tomas Valecko tacked on one late goal to make it 7-0.
FTC head coach Greg Lindqvist: We picked up the three points, it is very hard to motivate the players when you know that you will win anyways, to play a junior team is always very hard. We did not have injuries, so back to practice and get ready for the game against UTE.
