
For the first time during the Hungarian Cup qualifying round Csaba Jánosi gave Csaba Medgyes the start in net, Debrecen countered with Ádám Vay. Debrecen took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Dániel Godó, the score stayed 1-0 through the rest of the first period despite Vasas having 23 shots on net. The second Debrecen goal was not scored until after the midway point of the game when Martin Saluga set up Erik Piatek. At this point Jánosi switched goalies as this was planned already, Kristóf Bozso came in for Medgyes. In the last minute of play in the middle period Debrecen took a 3-0 lead when Péter Hetényi scored. In the third period Zoltán Csíki put one past the goal to make it 4-0 with Vay getting the shutout

Volán travelled across the county to take on Dunaújváros for their second Hungarian Cup Qualifying. Volán had Zoltán Hethényi in net with DAB having Marcell Lajcs between the pipes. In took fehérvár almost eight minutes to score their first goal of the game off of a shot by Gergő Nagy. Nagy ended up scoring twice more in the period, also finding the back of the net in the first period for Volán was Csaba Kovács, Chris Bodó and Ryan Martinelli to have a 5-0 lead. The goals kept on coming in the second period as this time Volán scored four times, Nagy scored twice with Kovács and Bodó scoring once each. During the period Dunaújváros switched goalies with Dávid Duschek coming in for Lajcs. Nagy scored the final goal of the game to make it 10-0 and his fifth of the game.
