
Casper Coyotes of the WHSL have signed Áron Kecskeméti to a one year contract to be their goalie coach.
Kecskeméti hails from Budapest and played his youth hockey with MAC Budapest and Újpest before moving on to Dunaújváros and playing in the MOL League, he spent his last season of his career at UTE with their U23 team. In 2012 he got his coaching papers and became a goalie coach.
During his coaching career he was the goalie coach in Zalaegerszeg with the Zalai Titans as well as spending this past April with the Hungarian Senior national team in an apprentice capacity with goalie coach Gary Clark.
Kecskeméti won't be the first Hungarian to be associated with the Western States Hockey League, Ádám Vay spent the past two seasons with the El Paso Rhinos with Krisztián Nagy spending a part of a season with El Paso as well. The 29 team league recently was promoted to the Tier II level in USA Hockey junior program. The league is split into four divisions, two 8 team divisions and one 7 and one 6 team division. The Coyotes who joined the league at the start of the 2014-15 season play in the seven team Mountain division in Casper Wyoming.
“If everything goes well I will be traveling to the U.S. at the end of July. I hope that with good results and success I will be able to make a bigger name for Hungarian hockey in the U.S.” said Kecskeméti to jkb.hu
