With only one game left in the qualifying group stage for the Hungarian Cup both Debrecen and Dunaújváros have qualified for the Final 4 where they will be joined by Hungarian champion Miskolc and host team Fehérvár AV19.
FTC-UTE 3-4
Ferencváros hosted the last Budapest derby of the season, with a win in regulation they would keep their hopes alive for a spot in the final 4. Just as in the MOL League season. After the first period UTE had a 1-0 lead from a David Coleman shorthanded goal, less than two minutes into the Ferencváros had already flipped the score on goals from Attila Rafaj and Ákos Kiss, Zoltán Pál made it 3-1 for FTC. In the last ten minutes of the game Ujpest tied it up when Jozef Mihalik and Jussi Tapio scored. With FTC needing a win in regulation they pulled Robert Martin, their goalie for the extra attacker. With six seconds left in the game Péter Gagyor scored an empty netter for the 4-3 Újpest win.
DHK-DAB 7-2
Debrecen completely ran over Dunaújváros in a game where they were up 4-0 before DAB.Docler put one past Savva Borodin. DAB was playing without Tamás Pozsgai who was injured and AllStar goalie Janis Kalnins had left the team to train with the Latvian national team. Norbert Hári had scored the only goal in the first period, but Dusan Sijka had DHK up 2-0 in the first minute of the second period. Alexey Voronov scored a brace before Nathan Martine made it 4-1. Dávid Szappanos scored the other DAB.Docler goal with Ákos Berta also scoring twice and Norbert Dancsfalvi recording the seventh Debrecen goal in the last period. The loss to Debrecen had cost DAB coach Don MacLean his job as he was let go Saturday morning.
MAC-DAB 2-5
Robert Spisak made his season debut with DAB.Docler, this was a good chance for him to see what needs to be changed in a low pressure game. Peter Sevela got the start between the pipes, on the other side Norbert Zaka was teh starting goalie with Gergely Arany and István Terbócs resting for their EBYSL game against RedBull on Wednesday. Dunaújváros look a little flat all game but did the minimum to pull out the win against MAC. After goal each by David Croteau and Balázs Somogyi for DAB and Bence Bödök goal for MAC it looked like the first period would close 2-1, but Tamás Pozsgai scored a third goal in the closing seconds. Croteau scored his second of the game to give his team a comfortable 4-1 lead. In the third the teams exchanged goals as Somogyi and Zsolt Vajda scored for their respective teams to set the final at 5-2, Zaka stopped 50 out of 55 shots.
