U20: Hungary Coasts to Victory vs Poland

Hungary had an easy win in their first national team match of the season in a 6-1 win over Poland.

Rich Chernomaz gave Gergely Arany the start in goal, as he played excellent, only letting in one goal.

It took Hungary the first shift to open up the scoring when Csanád Erdély scored 20 seconds into the game. They had a two goal lead before the game was five minutes old as Kevin Szabad set up István Terbócs for the goal. Things got a bit dicey in at the halfway point of the game as Erdély was awarded a 4+10 after he had a tussle with Patryk Matusik. Poland got on the scoreboard with a power play goal.

In the second period Hungary really opened up the scoring as Terbócs, Bence Stipsicz  and Lörinc Tanka all found the back of the net during a ten minute span in the second period.

The third period was rather slow compared to the first two with Erik Keresztury scoring the only goal. Overall the game was filled with penalties, Chernomaz will probably address that for today’s afternoon game, the puck drops at 17:40.

Icehockey.hu was able to catch up with Csanád Erdély, who had Gordie Howe hattrick (goal, assist, fight), after the game. "It was a grear exibition game. They fought hard in the firet two periods, but our conditioning is great and were able to last the full game."

The games leading scorer with two goals, István Terbócs also gave an opinion, “We started great, had a two goal lead early on but we laid back a bit after that, however we woke up after the goal they scored against us. From there on out we pretty much controlled the game and we played within our system. The Polish had chances as well but we were solid in the back, we played great from the goalie up through the forwards, of course there is still room for improvement.”
