Nine different players scored in the Hungarian team

Relive the past: 13 Hungarian goals, „teddyrain”, excellent atmosphere. The only difference from last year’s Hungary – Spain match, that the opponent now was Croatia and we did not concede a single goal.

István Bartalis started to score and he was followed by Márton Vas, Árpád Mihály and István Sofron. There was still seven minutes remaining from the period: Sofron and Sikorcin used this time, so the the result was 6-0 after the first period.

The obviuosly weak Croatian team could not resist theHungarian attacks, it soon became clear that they have no chance in this match.

In the second 20 minutes the supporters had to wait a bit for the first goal hit by Csaba Kovács. But right after this the machine restarted: Sikorcin scored his second goal, then Ladányi hit a double. The remaining three goals was shared between János Vas, Bálint Magosi and Árpád Mihály.

After the final whistle of the game thousands of teddys started to land on the rink. Spectators were grateful for the 13-0, and they can prepare for the final game against the Netherlands. The winner will advance to qualifier group F.

Danijel Kolombo, coach: Croatia

What can you say after a game like this? Ist was even tougher then I expected! We played against the Hungarians so many times, but this was the first time, especially in the first period, where I didn’t see the effort I wanted from the guys! By the end, we had injury problems, we were down to eight forwards and like four defencemen, so this way we ran out of gas pretty quickly! The crowd was terrific, not as great as in Zagreb, but almost like that! For some of our young players this was the first time they played in front of crowd of this magnitude! We have to regroup for tomorrow, because we would like to win, but it’s going to be very hard! Tonight wasn’t our best effort!

Diego Scandella, coach: Hungary

I told the team between the first and second period that we cannot drop the intensit  for the whole game, because tomorrow’s g match against the Netherlands is going to be much tougher. I watched them play in both of their games, and I am sure it”s going to be a hard fought game! They skate really well, so we are going to have to be raedy and play very disciplined!
