The Hungarian women's team took on China in hopes have having an outside shot at promotion to the next level up. Hungary outshot China but came up on the losing end.

The game started relatively well for Hungary as they peppered China’s goal, outshooting the opponents 17-6 but were unable to take advantage of their opportunities until they had a 5 on 3 late in the period when Franciska Kiss-Simon put the puck behind China’s goalie Yuqing Wang.

The second period was more balanced compared to the first with both teams having one powerplay each, unfortunately China converted their while Hungary was unable to take advantage of the PP. With Nora Brgles sitting in the penalty box for cross checking Lu Wen put the puck past Anikó Németh, who did not have the best game as she had a save percentage of 84% for the second game in a row. In the last minute of the second period China took the lead as Wen scored her second goal of the period. China scored two goals on seven shots, which interestingly was the most shots they had on net from the three periods.

In the early part of the third period China made it 3-0 from goal scored by Rhi Zhu. Hungary had plenty of chances to get back into the game as they had 17 shots on goal but Chinese goalie Wang turned away all of them and in total stopped 38 out of the 39 she faced.

“It was a very high paced game, we were pressing right from the start but unfortunately we did not take advantage of our opportunities. China has a number of fast players so the game was fast paced from start to finish. Going into the game we already knew that it was going to be tough,” said Dorottya Medgyes after the game.
