Hungary played France on the last day of the EIHC tournament in Norway, the team looked sting for the first forty minutes but came up short in the end.
As to no surprise to anyone the Hungarian roster had another injury, this time Karol Csányi was out with an injury, also missing from the line up was Zoltán Hetényi Attila Reiter, Arnold Varga, Tamás Sárpátki and Balázs Sebők who was out with an illness. Back in the lineup against France was Kevin Wehrs, Jesse Dudás, Csaba Kovács and Dániel Kóger, Bence Bálizs started in net with Miklós Rajna being the backup.
In the first period Hungary had a great scoring chance when Csaba Kovács went down on the wing and put a shot on net that Ronan Quemener saved, and also stuffed Dániel Kóger who was there to put the rebound in. In the closing minutes of the first period HUngary jumped onto the scoreboard first, with Hungary on the power play Dudás took a shot from the blue line that was directed past Quemener by Balázs Somogyi.
In the second period France was awarded a penalty shot but they were not able to convert, later in the period with HUngary on the power play Áron Reisz hit the crossbar and after forty minutes the game stayed 1-0 in the favor of Hungary.
In the third period France able to turn the game around when they took advantage of the powerplays that the referees gave them. In the opening minutes of the period France tied the game up, later in the period they scored twice in a 2:01 span to put the game in the bag.
Hungarian Assistant coach Gergely Majoross: We were able to learn from the game, we worked well, we brought energy but maybe the fire might have been too big and that had us in the penalty box. We played great up until the third period where our penalty kill did not work as well.
French head coach Dave Henderson: Our powerplay stayed to work in the third period, this happens a lot in tight games when teams are fight hard. hungary played a good solid game but penalties hurt them and it helped us.
