Freshly elected György Such talked to icehockey.hu just after having his first meeting with Dr. Zsuzsanna Kolbenheyer and Zoltán Kovács and the new board members of the Federation.
“It is a great honor to accept this position and I would like to thank everyone that voted for me and believe in me. I know that I will do everything that I can not to disappoint anyone” said the new President.
“With regards to a plan, all I can say is that during the first board meeting we will cover all the agenda points that are currently still pending and needs to be discussed. I do not know which ones need an immediate decision. Parallel with this we will also be covering the issues that need to be looked at for the start of the following season as well as the strategy point that need to be dealt with as well. I can not really say much more for the reason that these decisions will not be made by one individual person.”
We asked the President what was the biggest reason he decided to entertain the idea of this position.
“Hungarian ice hockey is sitting in front of a great opportunity, it is a beautiful, dynamic, exciting and popular sport, and despite being relegated from the A-Pool the sport is at its peak both from the hockey side as well as in popularity, on the mens and the womens side as well, along with every youth national team as well. The sport has a chance right now to grow and develop even more, for this to happen we need the best environment to be created.”
