The summer transfer period continues on this time a Hungarian defenceman moving from DVTK Jegesmedvék to Fehérvár AV19.

After the Slovak Extraliga announced that DVTK Jegesmedvék missed out on being accepted to the league by one vote, it became clear that Kalvin Sagert would be leaving the club as he was looking to play in a similar level league. He didn’t have to look to far, only to the other side of the country as EBEL squad Fehérvár AV19 picked him up for the upcoming season.

This upcoming season will be his third in Hungary after playing the past two seasons in Miskolc with the Jegesmedvék. He has proven to be an offensive minded defenseman as he had 26 points in 41 games two seasons ago and last season came up just short of averaging a point a game as he had 42 points in 45 games.

Icehockey.hu cought up with Kalvin as he explained what were teh factors in his move from Miskolc to Székesfehérvár.

“I had a few options to move up but decided that Fehérvár was going to provide me with the best opportunity. I get to stay in Hungary and play in a more competitive league which is exciting for me. I enjoyed my two years in Miskolc and the success the team had there but I decided it was time to move on. I hope to help bring a winning culture to Fehérvár AV19 next year and to improve on last season by making the playoffs, after that anything can happen. The familiarity with the staff and some of the players that were with the national team will also make the transition much easier as well.”
