The Hungarian national team had an optional morning game day skate before the game against the United States.
The team hit the ice for a light skate and some shots on net to stay loose. Everyone was on the ice except for five players, Bálint Magosi, János Vas, István Bartalis, Frank Banham and Csaba Kovács. Head coach Rich Chernomaz did not want the team on the ice for more than 20 minutes.
Csaba Kovács: This day off really came at the right time as we could regroup and regenerate and we had a chance to see the U.S. play as well. Our job is to cause some problems for the top teams and we knew it will be a tough job for us. We always want to play every game but for him missing the last game was good to get everything straightened and rested.
Kevin Wehrs: Friday the 13th could be bad luck for those guys, but I am pumped to play against the U.S., I really can’t wait. After the last two games the legs started to feel heavy so the day off was really nice. It was good to feel the puck and get the legs moving today, we’ll be ready to go this afternoon.
