Szekesfehérvár AV 19’s scoring machine Jeff LoVecchio chated with hockeybuzz.com recently about his experince soe far this season playing in the EBEL and playing in Hungary.
During the interview, which can be found here, he brought up a number of interesting points while comparing the EBEL to the leagues he had played in so far during his career, he also touches on what life is like in Fehérvár. Either way it worth reading the article.
Jeff was born in the Chicagoland area and grew in St.Louis, interestingly enough he was back in Chicago when he played midget hockey before moving on to play juniors in the USHL where he was teammates with current NHL players Paul Stastny, Matt Carle, Drew Miller, Nathan Gerbe, and Alex Goligoski. He spent three years playing college puck at Western MIchigan before playing in the AHL and the ECHL where he was able to pick up valuable professional experience. In Europe he spent a season with Allgehe in Italy and one in Lillehammer, Norway, in Italy he was teammates with former Miskolc defenceman Matt Waddell.
This season he has been playing on a forward unit that has been on fire in the EBEL, LoVecchio has 35 points with Andrew Sarauer having 34 points and Frank Banham sitting on 32. It will be interesting to see how far in the playoffs will this line be able to take Fehérvár.
