After four seasons in the EBEL and one in France, Bálint Magosi is returning to the MOL League as he has signed with defending champions DVTK Jegesmedvék. Magosi shared his thoughts on this with icehockey.hu
It is a beautiful sunny summer day and one would think that hockey players are enjoying the sun somewhere. Actually players do not have that much free time during the offseason as one might guess, as they are preparing for the upcoming season.
“I took a week off, we spent the week in Bibioné, but the training doesn’t stop.” said Bálint Magosi who had moved back from Briancon with his wife and son.
“We had a great time out there, the small town feeling, the food, we really did enjoy our time, unfortunately the season did not go as planned. It was not a difficult decision, I figured if I had to come back I would sign the contract that I felt was the best offer for me” said Bálint but he also added “ Dunaújváros offered me a great contract but this was better and we will also be playing in the Continental Cup as well.”
How did you like the life of an import? What other offers did you have and you did the rest of the family take the idea of moving back home?
During the summer we live at home in Siófok, we just had to move back all of our belongings. We all liked being in France, and we were lucky with the little one because he seems to have a good time wherever he is. I had a great time being an import, after all hockey is hockey everywhere in the world. I had offers from other French teams as well as from Denmark but none of them were really worth taking a good look at. This was a concrete offer, there were other teams that had shown interest but never offered a contract.
After a season in France now it is time for the MOL League?
Exactly
The League has changed a lot since the last time you played here, you probably payed attention to it since you left, in your opinion home much has it changed and in what aspect?
I watched a couple of regular season games during this past year and I tried to catch as much as I could from the finals and the semi-finals. The teams are faster and everyone can pull off an upset, the teams are more disciplined and the league is more balanced.
DVTK are the defending champions, what kind of expectations are you opening up the season with?
Obviously I want to win everything, both at the club and national team level.
