Bálint Magosi has signed with the French club Briancon after spending the past four season with Fehérvár AV 19
Briancon’s new general manager Dr. Viktor Szélig did not wait long not only to sign new players but also use his Hungarian connection as his signed Magosi who is from his home town of Dunaújváros.
“Szélig had reached out to me in February about possible making a move to Briancon but nothing concrete was discussed, just if I would be interested in the idea of a little adventure” said Magosi Thursday morning, “we agreed to get back to the idea after the World Championships, we ended up receiving a contract offer that I liked, and after talking with the Fehérvár management I decided to accept the offer.”
Briancon has had a recent history of Hungarians on their roster, along with Szélig who had become a club legend, Balázs Ladányi, Márton Vas and Bence Szirányi had all played for the club in the past. János Vas and Balázs Gőz also spent time in France, János each in Dijon and Rouen with Gőz playing in Morzine-Avoriaz-Les Gets.
Magosi does not fit in the same mold as the other Hungarian forwards that have played in France. “I will try to play the same aggressive style with lots of energy and forechecking. I will try to be a positive example for the team, create scoring chances and do what I can for the team for the team.”
Magosi is the second player from the Hungarian World Championships squad that has switched teams during the offseason, following Balázs Sebők who signed with KalPa in Finland.
