Vas had come up with a plan for the offseason and set a date. After the A-Pool World Championships in St.Petersburg the national team captain did not want to draw out the decision where to play for the upcoming season, he wanted to have a team by the start of July. Looks liek everything worked out, as of July 29th Márton had decided to signed with DEL 2 club EHC Freiburg.
“The family and myself wanted to move a bit more south, so I looked around in that region, my agent had got in contact with Freiburg however originally they said that they are not interested. A week later they had called up back saying that things have changed and they are interested. I think that we have come up with a good contract and on top of this the club will take car of housing and also provide me with a car. They also said that the club has a family like environment”
Freiburg finished second to last in the regular season standings, they ended up avoiding relegation during the relegation playoffs. “The playoffs would be a big deal for this season, the arena and where I will live is about 70km apart so that is like driving from Budapest to Fehérvár or Dunaújváros to Fehérvár every day for practice. I have signed for one season but if my body can hold up, the team is great and I still want to play maybe I will be here for 2-3 seasons”
