The Miskolc PolarBears completed the first treble in Hungarian Hockey history by adding the Hungarian Cup to the Hungarian title and MOL League win to cap off a historical season.

Fehérvár AV19-Miskolc 2-3 OT

Head coach Gergely Majoross accomplished some incredible feats this season as head coach of Miskolc, one these was to win every trophy that the club competed for this season. Right from the start everyone had the feeling that this game was going to be a close one. Keegan Dansereau who was on fire all season flipped a close range shot past Miklós Rajna for the opening goal of the game. Just over a minute later Fehérvár tied up on a midrange snip by István Bartalis. The remainder of the period was back and forth but neither team was able to score. In the second period both teams started to take some penalties but both goalies stood tall. Miskolc turned to what worked all season and that was the powerfull slapshot of Jesse Dudas. Zach Cohan setup Dudas for the rocket that Rajna stopped but was unable to control and Tihamér Becze was on the spot to put the rebound past the Fehérvár goalie. In the third period the temp stayed high but the balanced started to tilt towards Fehérvár as Miskolc was having trouble containing the pressure. Both teams played a lot more disciplined and conservative as the minutes slipped off the clock. With about five minutes left Ladislav Sikorcin took a shot that took an awkward bounce and was behind Bence Bálizs for the tieing goal. Fehérvár pushed for the rest of regulation for the winner as well as in the first two minutes of overtime. Cohan managed to knock Frank Banham off the puck in front of the Volán net, Becze picked up the loose disc and put it past the Volán keeper for the Cup winning goal.

Gergely Majoross-”The game was pretty much like our season, we went in saying that we will battle as hard as we can and if we get off track we would try to get back as soon as we can. When the game was over we looked up at the scoreboard and we realized that we won the cup, the season is over is that we won three gold medals. I have all these strange feelings now not because of what we accomplished but with who we did it with, every day has been special this season, it has been awesome”

Krisztián Nagy-”We worked our buts off,we were going as hard as we could and it payed off. Against DAB we did what we could after being off for two weeks. Against Volán we started well and worked the rest of the way. This season has been amazing not only for Miskolc but for me as well being a young player.”

Rob Pallin-”Miskolc is a good hockey team and they have been a good team all season, and this is good for Hungarian hockey. W e did what what we could we put 20 shots on net in the third period, we played with ten forwards and the best player on the ice was their goalie. I have to give them credit for winning the game.”

Andrew Sarauer-”It was a good game I thought we played pretty good, we controlled the game but they got the bounces and we ran into a hot goalie.”

DAB.Docler-Debreceni HK 0-3

For the bronze medal Debrecen was hoping to upset, on paper the stronger DAB.Docler squad. Both teams stuck with their respective starting goalies from the semifinals game

Debrecen scored early and late in the first period, two minutes into the game Áron Könczei gave Debrecen the early lead but the Dunaújváros did not collapse as they kept up the pace with Debrecen. In the last minute of play in the period Artyom Vaszjunyin beautifully set up Dusan Sajka for the second goal. With a surprise move probably to shake up the team DAB.Docler switched goalies with Márk Hajek taking the place of Sevela between the pipes. This move looked to work as the SteelBulls were able to create some real chances but Savva Borodin stood tall in the other net as he kept a clean sheet through two periods despite the penalties stacking up for his team. In the third period Debrecen was giving Dunaújváros chances to come back into the game as they kept on taking penalties in the third period as well. Borodin played great as he ended up pitching a shutout for the bronze medal to cap off a great first season for Debrecen. Balázs Ladányi closed a close range shot to make it 3-0 final.

Jevgenyi Muhin-“We had a great season despite having a short bench, there were a number of times when we only played with three lines, but because of our system and hard work we were able to perceiver. I am very satisfied with the way we played today."

Norbert Hári-“We are very happy that we were able to capture the bronze medal, in our first season we also made the MOL League playoffs, we really have nothing to be sad about.”

Robert Sipsak-“Unfortunately we started the game the way we did yesterday, we were stuck in the locker room still. We were not aggressive enough and also slow to react we had chances but did not take advantage of them. It is hard to win without scoring goals.”

Nathan Martine-“We were not on the same page and never really got into sink, we have them two chances that they capitalized on the chances and we were stuck behind the eight ball right off the bat. We started to play simpler in the second period and that helped us, it was good wakeup call after the goalie change.”
