Because of the international break, week nine of the MOL League only had two games, both on Tuesday night.

DVTK-DHK 5-4

Third place Debrecen traveled to Miskolc to take on first place DVTK, the home team had Bence Kiss in net, missing from the lineup was Balázs Gőz, on the other side a Balázs Ladányi was behind the bench as interim coach of the team, Ádám Vay was back in between the pipes. The game started well for the visitors as their power play started off well. Péter Hetényi threw a shot down the pipe from the blueline that Bronson Kovács redirected waist high, past Kiss. In the second minute of the middle twenty minutes Jarkko Leppanen took a blast from above the left circle that was redirected by Balázs Somogyi. Minutes later DVTK took their first lead of the game when the puck went from Miskolczi to Galanisz to the tape of Jon Booras who was arriving on the doorstep of the goal, Booras nicely left the puck over the far shoulder of Vay. The home team looked to pull away when Pavuk picked up the loose puck in the neutral zone, skated into the DHK zone and roofed a shot from the hash marks to make it 3-1. The period still had a 5 on 3 goal for Diósgyőr when Booras crossed the puck through the crease to Roland Hajós who put the puck into the empty net. In the third period it looked as if the home team took their foot off the gas but somehow found a fifth goal. Pavuk put a shot on net that Vay initially saved, with the puck under him he stood up and the puck slid over the goal line. DVTK was awarded a penalty shot that Vay saved, in the closing minutes Debrecen made it a game. At first Áron Könczei scored a wrap around goal from the back of the net to make it 5-2 which was followed by an Ákos Berta goal when he took a Kaskov pass from behind the net. In the last minute of play Berta scored his second of the game to make it a one goal game.

DVTK head coach Peter Mayer: We have the win, it wasn't the best to watch to see them come back to make it a one goal game after being up by 4 goals, we were lucky but we shouldn't be playing like this. The second period was probably our best period all season, but we let them get back in the third.

AV19-UTE 4-2

After the international break hockey was back in Fehérvár as fifth place Újpest traveled south to Fehérvár to take on Alba Volán. The home team had a chance to leap over Debrecen to take third place with a win. There was more good news for Fehérvár as Devon Krogh was back in the lineup after his horrific neck injury, Janis Kalnins was the starting goalie. For the visitors József Pleszkán was named the starting goalie. Neither team was able to score on a power play in the early part of the game. Later in the period, fresh off a national team appearance Ferenc Kocsis scored the first goal of the game with Mitch Holmberg and Brance Orbán collecting the assists. In the second period Fehérvár had two power plays, including a one minute stretch that gave them a two man advantage but they were not able to score. After a scoreless second period Újpest tied it up in the opening minutes of the third period when Ákos Kiss put the puck past Kalnins after Péter Gágyor and his brother Dániel set him up, the game didn’t stay tied for long as Chris Bodó scored an unassisted goal. Later in the period the teams exchanged goals in a 23 second span, first Eric Pance pulled UTE back even off of a pass from Jozef Mihálik but Krogh put the home team back up again by one, with about ten minutes to go. In the last second of play Dávid Szabó scored an empty net goal to set the final at 4-2.

Fehérvár AV19 Head coach Tyler DietrichGame was good, pretty fast paced and exciting. Solid effort by our guys and a lot of resilience after the UTE goals.
