Ferencváros was playing their first game without Jimmy Jenson as he had transferred to a French club in the middle of the week. Krisztián Budai was in net for the visitors and Dávid Duschek for the home team. Dunaújváros went up 1-0 in the early part of the first period on an unassisted goal by Michal Vazan, minutes later with Ferencváros on the power play Zsolt Azari scored a shorthanded goal to make it 2-0. Dunaújváros went up 3-0 before the period was out on a goal by Phil Bushbacher. After the first period Greg Lindqvist switched goalies pulling Budai for Olivér Ágoston. The move worked out as in the early part of the second period Jereme Tendler scored a goal off of a pass from Zalán Fliszár to make it a two goal game. The score remained the same for the rest of the second period. At the beginning of the third period Brad Smith scored a power play go to really put the game out of reach for the visitors.
DVTK-AV19 6-7 OT
An injury riddled Fehérvár faced a tall task against DVTK in Miskolc, the home team was still without Balázs Gőz and started Attila Adorján in net. Volán just can’t catch break, they were without goalie Janis Kalnins defenseman Krogh, Reiter and Dániel Szabó, also five players were called up to the EBEL team, Tamás Láday was playing his first game with the team since his arrival. The game was a defensive battle at first as the game was scoreless through almost the first half of the game. Volán broke the scoreless game with a powerplay goal by Krisztián Szabó, since Kalvin Sagert was serving a 2+2 DVTK was still short handed, Adrián Tóth tied it up with a shorthanded goal, but on the same power play Tihamér Becze put the visitors back up. Tóth scored to tie it up again, the goals kept on coming throughout the rest of the period as Preston Shupe made it 3-2 and for the third time in the period Diósgyőr tied it up but this time they took their first lead of the game when Márk Miskolczi put the puck past Scola. It looked as if DVTK would pull away in the third period as goals by Somogyi and Booras made it 6-3 for the home team. Later in the period Máté Arany brought it back to a two goal game, and a Holmberg goal cut it to one, the comeback was almost complete. Volán pulled the goalie for the extra attacker in the closing minutes and it payed off as Becze scored his second of the game with less than two minutes left to send the game into overtime. In the extra session it didn’t take long for the game to be decided as Szilárd Hamvai scored a shorthanded goal in the first minute of OT.
Fehérvár Head Coach Tyler Dietrich: I thought the first period was just what we needed, DVTK had some chances but we managed to keep them off the scoreboard and had a few good chances of our own. The second period was wild and we built a lead three separate times but they answered right back. In the third we just didn't give up, ignored the scoreboard and played. Great night for Becze against his former squad, that whole line rose to another level tonight.
UTE-MAC 3-4
The home team was playing without Teemu Elomo again, József Pleszkán got the start in net. On the MAC side Bence Stipsicz was out with an illness and Bence Bálizs was in net. The young forward Bence Bödök squeaked a loose puck through the pads of Pleszkán for the early lead, towards the end of the period with Bálizs screened Tamás Grösché put a shot on net hat went through for the goal. In the early part of the early part of the second period Arnold Feil jumped on a turnover and put the puck past Bálizs glove side from the slot. Exactly at the 30 minute mark of the game Tomas Klempa made pass from the corner that Ian McDonald redirected to tie the game, thirty seconds later István terbócs crashed the net and put his rebound in to put MAC backup 3-2. The home tied the game up when Bálizs was not able to control the rebound and Tamás Virág put the puck in from the doorstep, later in the period they tied it up on a power play goal by Eric Pance. In the third MAC was able to tie it back up by the way of a goal by Jeff Hayes. In the closing minutes of the game Ian McDonald put a rebound in on the power play goal for the winner.
MAC head coach Gergely Majoross:It was an exciting game, from the technical side it was useful as well and wasn't bad, of course we had some blooper plays as well but this is part of the game. We dominated for most of the game but still came out for the third period down by one goal, but we overcame this for the win.
