MOL League: Goals Flying on Monday Night

Brasov-DVTK 5-1

First place Diósgyőr travelled to last place Brasov to play their first out two games in Romania. The home team had Szilárd Béres in net with DVTK having Attila Adorján defend the cage. Brasov was playing with a full roster, which they have not really had a chance to do this season. DVTK was without Jesse Dudas, Jon Booars and Levente Szilágyi. DVTK started off hot as it was 2-0 before the first minute was over as Balázs Láda setup Balázs Somogyi for the first goal and Keegan Dansereau made it 2-0 off of a pass from Nikandrosz Galanisz. Minutes later Szilárd Béres was pulled in favor of Zoltán Tőke as it was already 3-0 thanks to second goal by Somogyi. Towards the end of the first period Brasov got on the scoreboard with Mátyás Bíró scoring a power play goal. the score remained 3-0 through all of the second period and deep the period. DVTK brought the heat again as Patrik Popovics and Láda scored the final two goals in the 5-1 win.

SC-FTC 6-4

Csíkszereda has been one of the hotter teams in the league since the last time these two teams met up. This game was to have a playoff atmosphere right from the start. Ferencváros had Olivér Ágoston in the net and Attila Rafaj was not  in the lineup, with Sport Club having Marek Peksa start in net and Zoltán Sándor made his debut for SC. Alexander Dyadyushko put the home team up early in the first of a pass from Zsombor Molnár. Jereme Tendler tied it up on a shorthanded goal minutes later. Csíkszereda took a one goal lead into the locker room after the first thanks to a goal by Kirils Tambjives. Early in the second period Marko Luomala was able to tie the game all up at 2-2, but minutes later Tambijevs was awarded a penalty shot which he converted to put Sport Club back up by one. the second period scoring did not finish that as Linus Schellin scored his first goal of the season as Fradi tied it up, but when SC needed him Tambijevs stepped up and made it 4-3. SC pulled away in the third period with two goals, first Kalvis Ozols and later Nikita Mironov made it 6-3. In the closing minutes of the games Joona Mannien cut it to a two goal game but Csíkszereda held onto the win.

MAC-AV19 5-2

This matchup has become a real rivalry throughout the first half of the season as Fehérvár, both teams had U20 national team players back in the lineup. Bence Bálizs and Janis Kalnins were the goalies of record for the night. MAC was without Kristóf Schmál who had just broken his nose, Fehérvár was still missing Devon Krogh, Dávid Szabó and Attila Reiter. MAC took the lead early in the game as Tomas Klempa set up Jeff Hayes for the two on one goal. MAC went up 2-0 when Michael Quinn fired a shot from the blueline off of Klempa’s pass. In the closing minutes of the first period Klempa had his third assist of the game as set up Ian McDonald who banked it off the crossbar for the goal. Fehérvár scored their first goal of the game when Ádám Hegyi was left alone in front of the net and took a pass from the corner and slipped it past Bálizs. In the last minute of play in the second MAC made it 4-1 when Klemp skated in on a breakaway and first it from the slot past Kalnins. The two teams exchanged goals in the third period as Krisztián Nagy scored a nice solo shorthanded goal and in the final two minutes Martin Pillók scored a power play goal when he one timed a pass from Ferenc Kocsis.
