AV19-MAC 6-2

After MAC took all three points at home on Monday against Fehérvár the two faced off against each other again Wednesday night in Fehérvár. MAC was missing Michael Quinn from the previous night other then that there were no changes in either lineup. Bence Bálizs started for MAC and Janis Kalnins for Fehérvár. MAC jumped out to an early lead after István Terbócs put home a rebound off of an István Mestyán shot. MAC doubled their lead later in the period when Mestyan was left alone in front of the net and banged home a feed from Niko Saarenpaa. Ferhérvár cut the lead in half when Mitch Holmberg ripped a rocket from the left faceoff circle that went in off of Bálizs’s blocker and in. MAC closed out the period with a 4-1 lead as Drew Olson scored twice from the left faceoff circle in the closing minutes. After the first period Kalnins was pulled for Alex Scola. In the second period MAC started to pull away,  Olson put a shot on net that deflected off of Ian McDonald’s skate and into the goal to make it 5-1. Fehérvár had a 5 on 3 advantage late in the period, Preston Shupe made a cross crease pass to Alex Grive who banged it in before Bálizs could get across. In the third period teams started to jaw a bit but nothing serious happened. Just like on Monday night Krisztián Nagy scored a shorthanded goal on a break away when he slipped the puck between Scola’s legs. Late in the period there was a tussle in front of the Fehérvár net, when Scola sprinted the length of the ice to fight Bálizs, the two goalies were tossed for fighting. In the closing minute Árpád Németh and Tamás Láday also locked fists. In the end MAC held on for the 6-2 win.
