MOL League: Saturday Night Hockey

SC-Brasov 5-4 SO

A Transylvanian derby can always be exciting especially with the game counting both in the MOL League and the Romanian as well. Gellért Ruczuj started for the home team and Zoltán Tőke was defending the Brasov net. The first goal was not scored until the closing minutes of the first period when Aleksei Alekseev scored a power play goal, before the period was out Sport Club had doubled their lead off of a second Alekseev goal. In the opening minutes of the second period Tivadar Petres put Brasov up on the scoreboard off of a pass from Mátyás Bíró. Mátyás Bíró would set up his brother Gergő to tie the game up at 2-2. The scoring continued in the middle period as Kalvis Ozols made it 3-2 with a power play goal, Petres tied it up at 3-3. Last week’s player of the week Kirils Tambijevs scored in the closing seconds of  the period to give Csíkszereda a one goal lead heading into the third period. After two multi goal periods Zsolt Molnár scored the only goal of the third period. The two teams finished at 4-4 and the game went to overtime. After a scoreless overtime the game went into a shootout and Alekseev stepped up and scored the winning shot.

DAB-DHK X-X
Debrecen was trying to keep up with the top teams in the league and had a chance to shake the teams chasing them.  Dávid Duschek got the start for the home team and Ádám Váy for Debrecen. It was a real defensive battle as no goals were scored in the first period and the game stayed scoreless into the second period when Artyom Vaszjunyin setup Norbert Dancsfalvi for a short handed goal. The game stayed locked up 1-0 until the first minute of the third period when Áron Könczei scored a second shorthanded goal for to put up Debrecen 2-0. Later in the period Péter Hetény made it 3-0 with a power play goal. The score stayed 3-0 as Vay ended up going the distance for the shutout.

DVTK-UTE X-X
Diósgyőr was hoping to get back to the top of the standings against Újpest, they had Jesse Dudás back in the lineup, Attila Adorján started in net for the home team, with József Pleszkán in the cage for UTE. Jarkko Leppanen gave DVTK the lead in the early minutes of the game, the teams exchanged goals as the period went on with UTE always tieing the game up. Martin Turbucz made it 1-1, Keegan Dansereau made it 2-1 but this time Péter Gágyor tied it up at 2-2 an Attila Pavuk goal gave DVTK the lead at the end of the period. Roland Hajós made it 4-2 and a second Pavuk goal put the game away for DVTK. In the third period Balázs Somogyi scored the last Diósgyőr goal.
