Number 1 against Number 2 is always marquee matchup, and that was the same when DVTK travelled to Budapest to take on MAC. The home team was without Dezső Roczanov and Drew Olson who were both suspended. DVTK was without Adrián Tóth, Levente Szilágyi and Balázs Láda, however Jarkko Leppanen was back. Bálizs Bence and Attila Adorján were the starting goalies. MAC took an early two goal lead, first István Terbőcs flew down the left wing, fed the puck in front of the net where Krisztián Nagy put the puck past Adorján. Not long after MAC set up in the DVTK end when István Mestyán threw the puck on net that went through for the goal. In the second period Ian McDonald set up Tomas Klempa for a two on one goal that he slipped through Adorján’s legs. Minutes later Niko Saarenpaa skated down the left wing and sent a frozen rope into the top corner of the goal to make it 4-1. However 19 seconds later Jesse Dudás got into the crease and roofed the puck past Bálizs to get one back. Right at the midway point of the game Attila Pavuk made it a one goal game, MAC called timeout to settle everything down. the game started to get chippy as both sides were picking up penalties. Towards the end of the period Klempa scored a power play goal to put MAC back up by two. In the third period Diósgyőr cut it to a one goal game again when Marko Miskolczi redirected the puck for the power play goal. Being down 5-4 Diósgyőr flipped the score on the next shift, first Keegan Dansereau was left alone in front of the net to tie the game up, next Miskolczi put the puck off the post but Somogyi was there to put the puck into the empty net to go 6-5. Diósgyőr scored a later power play goal to go up by two.
