MOL League: Favorites pick up big wins

Fehérvár had Márk Szaller back in the lineup but Máte Arany was still missing and Dániel Mazzag was also out of the lineup with Janis Kalnins in net. Debrecen was still struggling with injuries as Norbert Csíki, Kasper Emanuelsson and Ákos Berta were out but Fyodor Kozlovsky was back in the lineup with Ádám Vay was in net. The game started off with a scoreless first period, with the scoring drought coming to an end in the 36th minute when Áron Reisz took a nice cross ice pass from Krisztián Szabó and roofed the puck near side on a one timer past Vay. In the closing minutes of the second period Alex Grieve scored an unassisted goal when there was a pileup in front of the Debrecen goal and the puck was banked off of Hetény’s butt, to put Volán up 2-0. The third period was like the first as in it came and went without a goal beings scored as Kalnins picked up the shutout.

Both teams have been struggling with injuries and or Diósgyőr suspensions had also creeped in for the team. The home team was without Attila Adorján who is with the Romanian U20 national team, also missing was Levente Szilágyi and Adrián Tóth because of injuries with Balázs Gőz, Patrik Popovics and Kalvin Sagert sitting out because of suspension. There was some good news as Balázs Láda and Jon Booras were back from injury, and Dávid Gyenes got the start in net. On the other side Mike McCann was back in the lineup and Timur Rasulov was scratched. Gergely Borbás and Mátyás Odnoga were also missing with Dávid Duschek getting the start in net. Brad Smith put the visitors up in the tenth minute of the game, minutes later the Diósgyőr scoring machine kicked in as they scored three goals in just over three minutes. Ádám Fekti scored his first goal for DVTK on an unassisted goal, which was followed up by Roland Hajos. Nikandrosz Galanisz scored the third home team goal of the period as any momentum that Debrecen had early had disappeared. The league leaders continued the the scoring in the second period but this time they only managed to put the puck past Duschek twice, first Balázs Somogyi scored a power play goal. In the closing minutes of the middle period Keegan Dansereau made it 5-1. Galanisz and Jarkko Leppanen tacked on two more goal to set the final at 7-1
