MOL League: DVTK stays on top in OT thriller

The top two teams in the league faced off against each other for what would amount to be the regular season champions. DVTK had a full lineup as Adrián Tóth was back in the lineup after missing some time with an injury, Dávid Gyenes got the start in net. For MAC Krisztián Nagy was back after a two game suspension and Drew Olson was as well however, last week’s player of the week Niko Saarenpaa was out, Bence Bálizs got the start in net. The game was a real defensive battle as the the shots were 10-7 for the home team but no goals were scored. The second period had a total of six penalty minutes all coming off of an incident involving Nagy and Tóth as the MAC player got two minutes and the DVTK player received a 2+2. Both teams took one more shot in the second period than in the first but still none got past either Gyenes or Bálizs. In the third period the goalies kept up the clean sheets, late in the game Garrett Clarke picked up a 2+10 which took him out for the rest of regulation. Mike Quinn was called for a slash and Diósgyőr called a timeout to set up the PP, however neither team managed to score and both goalies chalked up a regulation shutout, the shots were 10-9 in the favor of MAC. The extra period didn’t take long as Kalvin Sagert set up Jon Booras for the winning goal in the first minute of OT.
