MAC-AV19 6-2

The semifinal series between MAC and Fehérvár came down to game seven which was not surprising, with the winner headed to the MOL League finals against DVTK Jegesmedvék.

Fehérvár had Miklós Rajna in net with Roland Vokla back in the lineup, MAC had Bence Bálizs in net with Gergely Arany back as well. Volán got off to a fast start as they scored on the first minute of the game when Mitch Holmberg centered a pass to Preston Shupe in the slot who was left by himself and flipped the puck past Bálizs. It was very clear that despite struggling early MAC was going to score a goal. This came in the twelfth minute when Tomas Klemp scored from high in the slot after getting a pass from Ian McDonald on the right wing.

In the second period the game pace stayed at a high level as both were fighting to get the lead on the other. MAC took the lead when Dániel Szabó gave the puck away Jeff Hayes jumped on it, after a shake and bake he slipped the puck between the legs of Rajna. Later in the period on a four on four Mike Quinn tried to pull deke, but  instead Fehérvár went the other way, in the last second Brance Orbán centered the puck to Tamás Sárpátki who flipped it in over Bálizs, however the goal had moved and because this the officials decided to negate the goal.

After 6 ⅔ hockey games the two teams were right where they started before, all tied and the game would come down to the final twenty minutes. In the early part of the final twenty MAC won a faceoff in the Fehérvár end back to István Mestyán who put a shot on net that Rajna did not see to put the home up by one. Just past the halfway point of the third period MAC pulled away with two goals in a 37 second span. First Drews Olson scored from the hash marks with Niko Saarenpaa flying down the left wing and cutting in front of the net and slipped it in to make it 5-2. Tyler Dietrich called timeout to get his troops settled. WIth just over three minutes left in the game McDonald and Olson skated in on a 2 on 1 with Olson finishing it when he snipped it top shelf.

Gergely Majoross: It was a balanced game, it was a dream game that started as a nightmare, bence Bálizs played great until we got the wheels going and we were able to build off of that which ended up with a win.

Tyler Dietrich: We played great for forty minutes but that third period blind sided us, it stings a bit but we will have to look at the positives. The final score was convincing win. I told the guys after the second period that someone will score a big goal for us and it will be exciting and we will win. It's a disappointing loss after a great season.
