With Mark Guggenberger still out for DVTK, Bence Kiss started for the second night in a row, Ales Sila started for UTE. Teemu Elomo and Péter Gágyor are still out for the visitors. Balázs Láda scored a crazy opening goal for Diósgyör as he skated down the goal line and flipped it up onto Sila’s back and the puck rolled down his back and into the the net. Újpest, who has been struggling to score goals turned to their power play, Tamás Virág put a rebound into the empty net to tie it up at 1-1. In the opening minutes of second period DVTK had 5 on 3 but Újpest was able to kill it thanks to some great defending by Sila. In the last minute of the period Victor Lindgren scored from the slot, at first the goal was disallowed but after a video review the game officials decided there was no goalie interference and Újpest took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission. Early in the third period Jon Booras scored a power play goal, but it wasn't awarded until video review showed that the puck did infact cross the goal line. Late in the game DVTK took the lead on a power play goal by Balázs Somogyi who was unmarked in front of the UTE net.
DVTK head coach Péter Mayer: Converting scoring chances has not been the best for us, but we came through in the third period today. We played better in some areas of the game that UTE, we picked up the three points and I'm happy with that. I am very satisfied with the performance with both of our young keepers.
